Background

Alain Oliva-Diaz is not just a professional athlete and martial arts expert. He’s a dedicated fitness trainer with over 30 years of education and experience who is passionate about empowering everyone—young, old, experienced, novice, healthy, and those with health conditions—to become the best version of themselves through improving their personal fitness little-by-little.

Born on October 15, 1975, in Cuba, Alain legally moved to the USA in early 2023 with his son. With a rich background as a gym owner, fitness instructor, martial arts champion, internationally renowned trainer, and highly certified expert, he is continuing his mission to shape champions and build strength in Jacksonville, FL.

But what sets Alain apart is not just his impressive accomplishments and rich experience in the world of fitness and martial arts. It’s his dedication to his clients, his ability to adapt to their unique needs and circumstances, and his unwavering belief in their potential.

Martial Arts and Athletic Achievements:

  • Began his athletic career at the age of six, earning a brown belt in Karate under 5th Dan Sensei Dagoberto Hernandez.
  • Continued his training in Judo, achieving an orange belt under 5th Dan Master Gerardo Verde.
  • Under the guidance of an 8th Dan Grand Master, chief trainer of Cuba’s special forces, earned a black belt (1st Dan).
  • Achieved 1st Dan in Taekwondo WTF and ITF Taekwondo, trained by masters who were special forces trainers.
  • Mastered Chinese and European Sanda, achieving 1st Dan in both lines under 6th Dan Frank Cazón and 7th Dan Roberto Hernandes.
  • In the USA, earned a blue belt in Jiujitsu under 5th Dan William Perez.
  • Gained experience in boxing, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and personal defense.

Competitive Achievements:

  • Clinched gold in Cuban national tournaments in Sanda, Jiujitsu, Open (all martial arts styles), and MMA. Also secured silver and bronze in boxing, and bronze in Taekwondo.
  • Achieved gold in international bilateral tournaments against Venezuela, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Italy, Argentina, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
  • In boxing, emerged victorious against competitors from Mexico, Guatemala, Germany, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, England, Japan, Namibia, Spain, Nicaragua, Honduras, Venezuela, and Colombia.

Military and Civilian Career:

  • Joined the military at 17, graduating as a hand-to-hand combat instructor and physical fitness trainer.
  • Completed a VIP security platoon leader’s course, offering protection to high-profile targets and individuals.
  • Imparted fitness training, personal defense, and combat sports training in civilian life, also working security at local bars and discos during the weekends.

Absolutely! Alain firmly believes that everyone starts their fitness journey somewhere, and it’s never too late to begin yours. He tailors every training program to meet your unique needs and fitness level, ensuring that you can build strength, endurance, and confidence at a pace that feels right for you. “Little by little” is our mantra, meaning we’ll help you make steady, sustainable progress towards your health and fitness goals.

Alain will meet you at the gym of your choice. Planet Fitness & Bailey’s are popular options in Jacksonville, but if you have another gym you prefer, please let Alain know. If Alain doesn’t have an active membership at the gym you select, you will be responsible for purchasing a guest pass for him for your training session.

Each training session with Alain is designed to be a unique and engaging experience, as we believe in the power of variety for achieving optimal results. You might be doing anything from strength and conditioning work to cardio exercises, barbells or strength training machines, flexibility training, or even functional movements that mimic everyday activities. Rest assured, no two training sessions will be exactly the same. This approach keeps your body guessing, promotes all-round fitness, and helps prevent workout plateau for sustained progress and results.

If you have health conditions, it’s crucial to consult your doctor before starting any new fitness regimen. Once you have your doctor’s approval, Alain will work closely with you to understand your health condition fully and design a safe, effective training program that respects your limitations and needs. Communication is key – the more Alain knows about your health, the better he can tailor your workouts to help you improve your fitness without compromising your wellbeing. Remember, Alain’s ultimate goal is to help you get stronger and healthier, little by little, at a pace that suits you.

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way and you might need to cancel or reschedule your training session. To do so, we kindly ask for a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. This allows us to adjust our schedule and offer your time slot to another client. Regrettably, without the required notice, we cannot provide a refund for the session. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this matter.

We understand that health comes first and sometimes illness is unavoidable. If you’re sick and unable to attend your scheduled training session, we can provide a refund or reschedule your session. However, we do require a note from your doctor to validate your health condition. This policy ensures fairness to all our clients while prioritizing your wellbeing. Comfortable athletic wear and a sturdy pair of sneakers are usually sufficient for our training sessions. If any special equipment is required, Alain will inform you in advance.

Absolutely! Alain offers both private one-on-one sessions and partner classes. The best option depends on your personal goals and comfort level. For group classes, contact Alain to discuss rate, group size, and frequency.

At this time Alain does not offer online or virtual training programs. Your personal safety is top priority, so it’s crucial he is with you in person to monitor your form, recovery, and level of exertion.

While Alain is primarily a fitness and martial arts instructor, he understands the importance of nutrition in achieving fitness goals. He can provide general nutritional advice and, if necessary, refer you to a qualified nutritionist for detailed meal plans.

Each training session typically lasts for about an hour, but this can vary based on the specific workout plan and individual needs.

The frequency of the sessions is entirely flexible and can be adjusted based on your needs, goals, and availability. Alain will work with you to determine the optimal training frequency for you.

Alain’s training programs are open to adults of all ages, starting from 18 years old. He also enjoys working with seniors, helping them maintain strength, balance, and mobility. No matter your age, Alain is committed to assisting you on your fitness journey.

Safety is a top priority for Alain. All workouts are designed with careful attention to proper form and technique to minimize the risk of injury. Warm-ups and cool-downs are included in every session, and Alain continuously monitors you during training to ensure exercises are performed correctly. If at any point you need to stop the workout or request a modification, Alain will be supportive and happy to adjust.
